At the time of this incident, I was a single mother travelling internationally with my 3-year-old son, who is quite a handful. We arrived at the airport by train, and in the rush of getting off with my child and one suitcase, I forgot my second suitcase — the one that contained all my personal belongings and gift items.

By the time I realised, check-in was almost closed. There was no time to chase after the train, so I had no choice but to continue with only the luggage I had, check in, and go through security.

While waiting at the boarding gate, I managed to contact the train company’s customer service. I explained the situation and gave all the important details — my train ticket number, where I boarded, and the times I got on and off. The representative who attended to me was extremely kind, reassuring me that they would investigate and get back to me.

Then, unexpectedly, it was announced that the flight had been cancelled due to technical problems. All passengers were decontrolled back to landside, and the airline arranged overnight hotel accommodation, with an apology and the promise of a rebooked flight the next day at no extra cost.

This delay gave me the opportunity to follow up again with the train company. They confirmed that my suitcase had been found, but I needed to collect it personally from their airport station office. By God’s grace, I was able to recover the suitcase that same evening. The next day, I boarded my rescheduled flight with both my son and all my belongings intact.

God’s Greater Plan

Looking back, I see how God orchestrated every detail. What looked like a disaster — a forgotten suitcase and a cancelled flight — was actually a blessing in disguise. Not only did I recover what was lost, but through this incident, God introduced me to the very customer service representative who had helped me track down my luggage.

That man is now my husband today.

At the time, I thought I was just a tired, stressed single mother being helped by a polite stranger. But God had a bigger plan — to bring companionship, stability, and love into my life in His perfect timing.

Reflection

God is good all the time. What seemed like misfortune became a testimony of restoration, provision, and destiny. I trusted it would be well, and God not only returned my suitcase but also gave me a family. Truly, His ways are higher than ours.
